Recent Beauty Finds and Stella and Dot Fall Faves

Wow did this past weekend fly by. boo. I actually slept in until 9:30 both days, it was glorious! I love mellow weekends, they really are the best.

On my super relaxing weekend I was researching some new beauty products I wanted to add to my collection. I tend to restock my make up every 3 months and its almost that time. I love love make up. I love watching tutorials, learning about products, and reading reviews. I also try to vary up my products hanging onto a few key items.

Sophie the Giraffe...My Partner in Crime

TGIF! At least I am excited for the weekend because I can make my husband lift Claire rather than myself. In my quest to be active with my child this week I pulled a muscle in my lower back and according to the Chiropractor its inflamed and needs to rest. Go me! Therefore when I lift Claire it knocks the breath right out of me. No more baby gym for me for a while.

I wanted to discuss my number one recommended product for babies. Sophie the Giraffe. I am sure most of you have heard about her, she looks more like she should be for dogs than babies. When I first saw her I was like what the heck is this stupid thing? But the ladies at Destination Maternity swore I wouldn't regret it so Sophie came home with me when Claire was about 3 months old.

Baby Gyms, Yay or Nay?

Speaking of gym time have you ever seen a picture of yourself and thought no that's not me, then right after thought omg that is me! I had that feeling last night and not in a good way. Diet starts this fall and don't worry I get that I am pregnant, I just looked really swollen.:)

Anyways enough about me. I have been pretty diligent about Claire and social activities since she was really little but its getting really hard as I get bigger. But despite my best efforts Claire has developed a pretty bad case of seperation anxiety and refuses to be apart from me. Flattering yes, functional not so much. Here is an example, I went to a get together and they were trying to get the little kids together for a Xmas in July photograph. I am the one in the corner with the child smooshing her face in my dress wanting me to pick her back up again after I plopped her down. Hence only adult in picture.

Ok no for reals onto baby gyms. They are pretty popular here and as they are chains I am assuming popular in most cities in the US. I have tried three gyms so far and wanted to share my thoughts for anyone looking into a baby gym.

Jcrew Loves

If you haven't already noticed I have a new and improved blog! Well at least in its appearance. yay! I was looking for ways to make the blog more organized and being that I am not very good with formatting I found someone via etsy to help me. Etsy, gotta love that site.

Anyways, I am trying to wake up here as I am still dragging in terms of energy. It's another very hot day so naturally I have been perusing the web for fall fashion. "fashion" as in anything comfortable to wear around the house with a newborn and toddler. Trying to not wear my pj's all day, but I want something comfortable and somewhat decent looking until I can fit into my regular clothes. While I love all the nice wool pants and blazers, etc...I probably have to wait a few months before I will be able to sport around in them.

Here are some of my picks, at least for myself this fall!

Exhausted, Lazy, Shopping on Etsy

I wish I had a huge story of how fun filled and busy my week has been but I don't, instead I was so lazy and exhausted I did a whole lotta nothing. If I had one of these I would take it with me room to room so I could relax that much more.

Brookstone Bean Bag
Funny thing is I went to look at how much it was and its sold out! Others must have the same idea as myself.

Fitness DVD Addiction

I hope you all had a nice weekend. I have been beyond exhausted lately and while I would love to take Claire to a park in the am, I get a nice sweaty workout just preventing her from running out into the street. Girlfran thinks its hilarious to get me to chase her away from the park, the other kids, and the mom's group I meet up with here and there. Makes it very hard to hold a conversation when I have the runaway bandit on my hands. I thought a slide was fun, but apparently running as far away as possible from me is even more fun.

That being said it's getting harder to chase her around as I get bigger and winded more easily. Our (my) new favorite activity is playing blocks at home in the ac. No runaway bandit.

But while I am on the subject of staying at home in the ac I wanted to share with you a website that I have become obsessed with lately. Or rather was always addicted to Total Fitness DVDs. I started following them last year on YouTube along with many other of my favorites. I have become completely obsessed with workout videos. I have seen such an improvement from the cheesy music and easy workouts of yesteryear.

My Awesome Pregnancy Inspired Nightstand

First of all happy Friday! Hope everyone has some fun plans for the weekend. I will be working hard at setting up the baby room and re doing the office. We finally got rid of that ugly green paint that I thought was so amazing until it went on the walls 2 years ago and we replaced with a nice neutral grey. I will do a post about the two rooms and their make overs once they are done!

So I always read my favorite blogs in the morning and a lot of them are these fabulous style blogs of women in their 20's who are very fashionable with amazing home decor sense that I never had.

A favorite post I have found from reading these blogs is of these stylish women's nightstands. Hilarious because I think back to my own. Often you will find these images of fresh flowers, jewelry, a good book, and some pretty sculpture etc...all neatly organized.

Granted I am in my mid 30's (gasp) and am currently 27 weeks pregnant with a little girl who likes to pull stuff off of tables. But I thought I would show you what is typically on my nightstand and make all you ladies jealous.

Here she is complete with unmade bed, Claire and a pug
Ok so I did decorate a little with fake flowers from Michael's, my ring holder, and a lamp.

Notice the box of kleenex? My allergies are out of control and my prime sneezing hours are right before I go to sleep and right when I wake up in the morning. Hence always on hand, as well as chapstick and water.

Then we have my prenatal vitamins and my thyroid medication. As if turning 30 didn't mess with my metabolism enough, it plummeted even further after having Claire turning me hypo-thyroid.

Then we have every pregnant girls dream. A enormous container of extra strength tums. Underneath is my current read "Wheat Belly" to see if cutting wheat will not only get rid of my chronic allergies, but also get rid of my thyroid disorder and heartburn.

There you have it folks! Pretty amazing right :) I found Wheat Belly on Amazon. So far its quite interesting.

Beauty Products I Didn't Know I Wanted Until Now...

I am such a visual learner, and now that sites like PopSugar and Joyus have video reviews of everything beauty, lifestyle, home, and fashion I find myself wanting products I normally wouldn't think about. Ahhh tourture. Today I indulged and looked at a couple beauty videos on Joyus and now want some of these items.

First up is this video I saw on a really awesome bristle hair brush to straighten your hair with. I have some cheaper round brush but I could probably invest in something more quality and I love how its not fully round. I have a baby room and patio to redo but I am trying my hardest to not purchase this for myself now.

Claire's Favorite Things (17 months)

We are back from a nice time up in Walnut Creek visiting friends. Even though we didn't do much it took me two days to recover! Funny how vacations can do that to you. Between this trip and our trip to San Diego I have some ideas on some new learning toys for Claire.

Claire just won't play with any toy, shes rather picky that way, but I suppose most kids are. We have foam blocks that sat in our office for a few months and most recently Claire has decided to take these foam blocks and build mini block cities all over our house. ALL OVER. It takes me a while to corral them all up and put back in their box only to find them all over the house again, I should just give up on the dream of a clutter free house.  Here is Claire hard at work building a block city on top of lily's dog crate:

Deciding what blocks will work in this city

Do I put the purple block here or on the other side

I just don't know

So with Claire's obsession with stacking, sorting, re-stacking and building block cities I not only recommend any stacking toy to any 16-18 (who knows how much longer) month old, but also I have a couple items on my want list. Anything to distract Claire from accosting me with the ipad screaming "icky" or hitting me in the face with the tv remote to watch Mickey Mouse Club is a good thing (although for anyone nervous on flying with a toddler, for us MMC worked like a charm on the ipad, commence baby zone out).

Lounge Lizard Indeed

On days I don't go anywhere and want to relax around the house I turn to Gilligan O'Malley sleepwear sold at Target. They are the best thing I have found since I discovered Luluemon. What I love about them is the material, most are made of modal fabric which is so soft to touch. A lot of their pants are fold over so you will not get any pinching (good for when pregnant or having a fat day). You can not only sleep in them (mainly the sleep shirts/nightgowns) but also hang around the house which I do a lot in their separates. The quality is excellent and I always buy a few new pieces when I do go to Target each month. Give them a try I guarantee you won't regret it!

25 Weeks Pregnant

The time has flown by so far. I am 25 weeks along and getting bigger every day. I feel overall great in terms of aches and pains but I have never been this exhausted before in my life. Thank goodness for those cake slices Von's sells in the bakery. A total pregnancy craving and huge sugar rush. I was looking at the progress of our backyard patio (not much done) and had Nik take some pics of my pregnant self.

For those of you who like jewelry I am still selling Stella and Dot. There are big sales right now before the fall line comes out so great time to take advantage if you so desire to shop online here: Stella and Dot. I would also love to host a trunk show if anyone is interested. Of the shows I have thrown so far the hostess has received almost $100 in free jewelery and hasn't had to purchase anything, I also create the invites etc...all you need to do is tell your friends and have some light apps!

Don't know why the shirt is so shiny
