High Five for Friday!

I had yet another pretty good week. Gearing up for a Stella and Dot show tonight to kick off the Labor Day weekend. Hoorah! If you have the urge to shop the Stella and Dot labor day weekend sale you can do so by clicking the Stella link on the right hand side. Below are my highlights!

1.Decided to finally get some self organization tools!

2. Went to purchase clothes for Thomas at Target but came out with new items for Claire

 3. This is what Claire did to Thomas' room when I left her alone in here for 5 minutes.

 4. Learned more about Thomas. I don't have GD but I do have a little chubster. At 33 weeks pregnant he weighed 5.7lbs and was chomping on his arm. I think I will just call him chompers and hope he is not 10lbs once this is all over.

5. Found this photo of my sister and I (my sister is picking her nose). It's a classic.

Have a fabulous long weekend!

Baby Boy Nursery

I have finally taken some photographs of the baby's fancy new nursery. Well actually not fancy. Claire reaped the benefit of first baby unlimited budget nursery and well this baby gets the design on a major budget nursery. I do think it turned out great though. Eventually I would love to add some sort of hanging light fixture. But I am happy with how it turned out. I got most items with my American Express points or with a fantastic coupon. You cannot forget Etsy either, they helped with the creative wall decor. Enjoy!

Here is his room from the entrance. I purchased the crib and dresser from Buy Buy Baby with a 20% off one time coupon. The total for both was around $800. I cannot find the brand online, but it was in their stores.

The nautical signs spell out Thomas in flag code. I found these gems on Etsy at this store: Just Beachy Shop

The lazy boy recliner I got on Clearance for $199 at Babies r Us. It wasn't exactly what I wanted but it was comfortable and too good of a deal to pass up.

I got these rugby curtains from Pottery Barn Kids along with the Star Hardware. You can find here: Rugby Blackout Panels and Star Hardware I purchased both with American Express points.

The awesome window panel with a burlap anchor I found on Etsy at this shop: Big Yellow Vintage

Bedding I found at Land of Nod, its the only items I paid full price for: Sail on Crib Bedding

The lamp I got on sale at Pottery Barn Kids, the picture frame I got from TJ Maxx, the painting has been in our family for a long time, the table I got at Pier One years ago, and Lily I found from a pug breeder :)

And finally the wall art is from another fine shop on Etsy: Zeppi Prints. I bought the frames at Aaron Brothers in the store. The brown storage bucket I found at Target.

And there you have it. The total cost of the room with paint was around $2500. Not bad! Tom will never know how cheaply I did this.

Loving Lately..Time Saving Hair Accessories

I am linking up this week with Glossy Blonde to share what I am loving right now.  If you are not a fan of Joyus, you should be first of all. Secondly, I am super into hair convenience. I currently sport the sock bun a few times a week. It looks pulled together and it's so easy.

Joyus introduced me to two more items I am purchasing this week. First up is the Sarah Potempa updo tool that allows you to do multiple styles without bobby pins! Here is a link to the video tutorial

My next new purchase is sort of funny but I really like it. Its a fake braided hair headband by Hershesons. No one will know (at least I hope not) that you are wearing fake hair. Just another way to liven up a dull do!

Bravo Old Navy, Bravo

Ok so I have like 6-7 weeks left of being pregnant, I am growing tired of my maternity clothes. We are also heading into my favorite season of all time, Fall. I love everything about fall, especially the cooler temperatures. I also love fall clothing and the idea of wearing my normal clothes again. All of this combined makes me want to shop big time. In my online perusing I took a quick look at Old Navy. I rarely shop at Old Navy. I am more a Gap, Banana Republic, Jcrew, Anthropologie shopper, although I do find some great items at Target. When I was looking through Old Navy's fall line my jaw near dropped to the floor. I thought they was so on trend and very similar to everything I love at Jcrew but so much more affordable! Affordable being the huge keyword. Living on one income I have had to really tone down my clothing spending and I can buy a lot more trendy items at Old Navy rather than say one piece here or there elsewhere.

I would shop fast though, these clothes seem to be flying off the shelves. I am holding back from pulling the trigger just yet because obviously I have no idea what size I will be after the baby, nor do I know how long it will take me this time to get back into my clothes. Hopefully I can participate in this glorious line soon. Until then here are my favorites.

Ebates, Your New Shopping Buddy

Thought I would take a quick moment to dive into my old Linkshare affiliate knowledge and tell you all about a great site to earn cash back. I totally refuse to pay full price for anything, there are always ways to save while you shop. I worked with Ebates while I was at Linkshare and I highly recommend them for all your shopping needs. Don't worry they didn't ask me to write about them...I personally shop there every time I want to buy something online and decided to share after I used them today. Every purchase I make I get a percentage of that total sale in my account. Every quarter or so they mail me a check for like $20 bucks or so based on my shopping. Just a great way to get further discounts while you shop your favorite stores.

I figured with all the holiday shopping that is coming up in the next few months, you may want some extra savings. Besides Ebates I will highlight some great deals I find through the Linkshare network here and there for you that you can find by clicking on the links/banners I provide.

Here is a link to get started. Happy Shopping!

High Five for Friday

I didn't have a chance to blog earlier because I found out yesterday I failed my 1 hour glucose test and had to go in and take the 3 hour test this afternoon. Brutal. Let me tell you. I will find out next week if I have gestational diabetes, but I am hopeful I do not. In the meantime I am cleaning up my diet big time just in case. No more Ben and Jerry fixes at night.

My week was good regardless, mellow, but good. Here we go...

1. Got some new faves from Lush Cosmetics
2. Claire got some good quality time in Carmel
3. Nik and I enjoyed a walk along the beach
4. Received the Kendra Scott earrings I won in a giveaway from Glitter and Gloss!
5. Claire found herself a new hiding spot
6. and for extra measure, Claire got herself some new fancy shoes.

Gifts from Baby to Toddler

I keep thinking today is Friday. I hate when that happens. Me and the Starbucks drive thru are best friends lately and today for the first time ever the woman in the car ahead of me paid for my drink! How awesome is that? Sort of made my day.

On another note Claire has been really adamant that I don't change her diaper when she is busy playing. Yesterday was a dozy. I absolutely had to change her diaper and when I tried to pick her up she flailed about sinking to a sitting position with arms straight up so I couldn't get a good grasp on her. It's hard enough to bend down to pick her up pregnant but this little act was exhausting. So I did what any normal person who owns dogs would do. I grabbed a cookie and asked her if she wanted it and she got right up and started to follow me. I stood in her room with the cookie and grabbed her once she got her little hands on it and finally changed her. I hope this doesn't become a routine. Not my finest moment.

But it got me thinking about what I am going to do for Claire once baby #2 is here. My idea is that its my chance to spoil her with goodies. (I don't normally go out and buy her a bunch of toys). As you may know she's obsessed with Mickey Mouse. She has taken over my iPad, I never get to use it, and prefers to watch it on the iPad rather than the tv. She walks around all day with her small Minnie and Mickey dolls. What better time to ramp up her collection than a gift basket of Mickey Mouse items from the baby! She will be so excited and love the new baby right? ha.

Have you ever really been on the Disney Store's site? Good lord it sucked me in, I think my "gift basket" is a little nuts. Check out what I have so far.

A big Mickey Mouse. They had one that was "Jumbo size" but I think would give Claire nightmares

Well why don't we add a Minnie Mouse Costume for Halloween?

A Mickey Mouse drinking cup

A Minnie Mouse Blanket

Minnie Mouse Shoes
Seriously I could go on forever I had to force myself to leave this store at once!

But if I was feeling super generous I may want to get Claire the new LeapPad2. You know give her a pint sized iPad and I can get my iPad back! I know its for ages 3-5 but she could grow into it.

Look a Disney Theme!

They are actually having some great deals on the new LeapPad, like free shipping. I've included a link if you wanted to shop straight from this site. I may just do it myself.
LeapPad2 now available! Free Shipping on exclusive bundles! Offer valid now through August 31st!

A Giveaway Winner and My Weekend Anthropologie Finds

Happy Monday. I am excited to announce the winner of the Oversized Growth Ruler. Sara Shay, come on down! :) I will be reaching out to you shortly to help with the details. Thank you all for entering! I should have some more great giveaways in the near future.

I had a fabulous mellow weekend in Carmel, Ca, our last getaway before baby number 2 arrives. Every time I go to Carmel all I want to do is drink wine, shop, and eat. I guess you could say that about any getaway. While I shopped a little and ate a ton, I obviously didn't drink. But to that note I have never seen so many wine tasting rooms in town. I cannot wait to take advantage of all these new tasting rooms on our next visit and tell you all about them. Here are some highlights.

High Five for Friday

Happy Friday everyone. This week I am linking up with From My Grey Desk to participate in her High Five Friday. It's been a good week and here are some of the highlights.

1. We finally got our Pergola finished so now can spend some time sprucing up our patio for future wine drinking and relaxing.

2. My dad gave me this gem of a photo of himself.

3. Claire has started to accessorize this week. First it was with my bracelets but she seems to think shorts serve the same purpose.

4. Received our much anticipated new dining set from Ethan Allen. Now we can relax at a big table for once!

5. Claire learned how to dance on tables. Celebrating my 32 weeks of pregnancy naturally.

And finally we are headed out of this horrible heat and to Carmel-by-the-Sea to take advantage of my parents house while they are in San Diego.  I will actually be able to wear jeans rather than the same maxi dresses over and over. hoorah! Have a fabulous and relaxing weekend and don't forget to enter the Giveaway here!

Sleep Deprived and a BirchBox Review

I hope you all are entering the awesome growth ruler giveaway! I know I am going to enter! Just kidding. Although that would be funny to announce that I was the winner.

I am trying my best to not fall asleep right now as I have not been sleeping at all the past few nights. I am talking up until 1am tossing and turning and then up every 2 hours in the night to use the restroom. I know it is to get ready for the new baby and it will only get worse but I just cannot function on zero sleep.  I was hoping in some way I would have total restful sleep before the baby but that's pretty laughable at this point.

Yesterday I was laying in bed while Claire was having her morning sippy cup and I started to fall asleep and I felt this painful smack right on my face. Claire threw her book  followed by the remote control at point blank range. That felt awesome, she then let the dogs into the room and well I knew I wasn't going to get any rest at that point.

However when I went to the front door yesterday morning in my groggy state my August BirchBox arrived! Hoorah! Or as Nik likes to call it my "bitchbox". It is something I look forward to each month. What is BirchBox you ask? It is a monthly beauty subscription where you receive new products you may have otherwise never tried. Plus for $10 a month you get one item that is retail value. So much goodness in one little box. Then if you really love a sample you can log into your account, purchase, and collect points to use towards a future item. You can find information on them here: BirchBox. For the men out there who want new products, there is a membership for them as well.

Here are some pics of my August BirchBox

Items Inclue: Schick Hydro Silk Razor, Miss Jessie's Original Quick Curls, Beauty Fixation Make Up Remover, Juicy Coture Viva la Juicy La Fleur (sample), and Pixi Beauty Lid Last Shadow Pen

Oversized Growth Ruler Giveaway!!!

My first giveaway. I am so proud. I don't know about you but I remember when I was in a growing contest with my sister my parents used to mark up the walls of their house and that was our growth chart. Which was fine at the time but we moved and well left the growth chart with the home. Would have been fun to have a keepsake from that time in my life, if anything to prove I won the growing contest.

I admit that I am not crafty whatsoever. This is why I love Etsy. You can purchase some fabulous handmade items without all work. A good friend of mine makes these incredible growth rulers which look so chic in any home (I know I own one). What is great about them obviously is that you can chart your child's growth through the years and keep the ruler for memories. You chart the growth, the ruler looks like a fabulous decor item, and you don't ruin your walls. Hoorah!

Well one lucky individual will be receiving one of these fabulous growth rulers for their home for free, this includes the shipping, absolutely NO cost to you! Just enter below. The more action items you do the more chances to win. I will raffle off the winner on Monday August 20th. Here is Corey's Etsy site if you want to view more information:A Vintage Gal's Designs
