High Five For Friday!

Happy Friday! Thank god another week is down! Here are some of my highlights:

1. My really amazing friend who also chronicles her running adventures here (for all you runners out there): Sleepless in San Diego gave me a truckload of little boy clothing for the new baby. Good thing too because I had like nothing for him.

2. I think I can say that this has been the most oppressive summer I have ever experienced. AND its fall. AND I am pregnant. I want rain, cool temps, sweaters, and boots stat, oh and having this baby would be nice :)

3. I received an awesome birthday gift last week. Six bottles of wine. I only have a couple more weeks until I can indulge in one of my favorite past times. Wine drinking! These won't last long.

4. Claire is as bored as I am right now. I am miserable, its hot outside, and it hurts to walk long distances. So we played the where is Claire game. It was pretty exciting.

5. I ordered my first pair of flats from Madewell for the fall. I love this bright green shade!

Happy Friday everyone!

I Love Monograms

Ok real quick for those who are interested I had my final ultrasound yesterday and the technician told me that the baby is currently weighing in at 7lbs 10oz. I am 37 weeks, or 38ish weeks, who really knows. But I do know that I have like two or so weeks left and this baby is packing on pounds like mad. I know ultrasound weight estimates can be off by like half a pound or whatnot but I feel pretty much the same as I did with Claire and she was right over 9lbs. I guess some people just have large babies. I am hoping to have him late next week, at least that's what I told him, I am ready to be done! So that is my update. Exciting.

Ok so I know there is a huge monogram craze going on right now and I have been sucked right into it along with everyone else. I decided to peruse my favorite site Etsy.com to see if I could find some great well priced monogram items and Etsy did not fail me! Here are some of my favorites, I plan on wearing them all at once. Just kidding, maybe.

First up we have your standard Monogram necklace by PJKdesign.

This necklace is listed for $79.50 and there are multiple items such as monogram bracelets, name necklaces, etc. You can buy this fabulous piece here: PJK Design

Now who doesn't love a good monogram tote bag?

At The Pink Paisley you can create your own tote bag or hats, towels, etc....its a fabulous monogram shop to stop by! You can purchase this fabulous tote bag here: Jute Tote

Now at Livvy Press you can get yourself some monogramed stationary, or thank you cards what have you. This one is my fave:

You can purchase this card here: The Livvy Press

Ok I have saved the best for last, this may be my favorite shop. Who doesn't love a monogramed beer koozie?

At Rouge and Co you can find a ton of cute items from above to iphone cases, ipad cases, gifts etc.. To get yourself a beer koozie look no further than Here

Happy shopping!

Beauty Roundup aka Loving Lately

Ok I know I have been obsessed with beauty products lately. Actually I am always obsessed with beauty products. I love learning about new tricks and new items to make my daily routine easier. I also love some great online deals mainly because I don't really like dealing with the make up people at the counters. Not because they aren't nice, but because I am such a sucker I tend to get sucked into buying products I don't necessarily need. I am a make up artist's upsell dream. That's why I like learning about this online and making a decision without pressure.

Anywho if you sign up for BeFrugal through any of these links you can start collecting cashback, basically just another savings off your total purchase. It's pretty awesome. Here are some good deals this week. I personally have been wanting the Kajal eyeliner by Stila. Anything Kajal glides onto your eyelid very easily, they really are fantastic. My personal favorite is black. Image below:

I hope you all enjoy the deals!

Newborn Essentials

I have been asked several times from friends in the past which newborn items are the best. Why they ask me I do not know, perhaps because Claire was colicky and I tried a ton of gadgets to help calm her down. Naturally each baby is different and most likely Tom who is due in 2 weeks will hate all the tricks I used with Claire, but we will see.

I realized this past weekend that Tom is due in just days and I am totally mentally unprepared. Ack! Here are some of the must have items on my list, not only to refresh my own memory, but to help any new moms out there, and a couple new items I want to try:

Moby Wrap. This is totally me Claire and Thomas. Although I will have not showered and Claire will be screaming.
I love the Moby Wrap mainly because the Bjorn hurt my back too much. The moby calmed Claire down super fast and I had my hands free to eat lunch over her head (while dropping crumbs on her) and write emails. Claire took many a nap in this thing and it was a staple wardrobe item.

Fisher Price Newborn Rock'n Play Sleeper

Claire slept in this thing for like 2 months. I carted this bad boy room to room so she could rest and I had some rest in between moby wrap sessions. What I loved the most is that she wasn't laying flat and sort of cradled her in snuggly. Claire had also refused to sleep flat anyways so this was a gem.

Activity Mat.
Once Claire hit about a month and a half this thing was her pal and gave me a break.

Sleep Sack Again a great addition helped with her sleep
Now a couple items I do want to try but not sure if I will purchase this round are:

Nap Nanny. Would be good to use while taking a shower

Mamaroo

This thing just looks cool, and in person it moves really smooth. I actually want one for myself. jk. But it looks comfortable for baby.

There you have it. As you can see only a handful of items worked with Claire. We will see how this works for the newbie in the house. Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Kids are Funny

I am starting to get nervous about having two kids under 2, and I clearly have been procrastinating on my research. So I decided hit Amazon.com with a vengance. While I was looking for some serious books I saw one recommended by Daily Candy of all places called "Shitty Mom: The Parenting Guide for the Rest of Us"

So I naturally took a look and was dying. Hilarious. I then made the mistake of looking at the "recommendations" section and was sucked in for an hour. Mind you I was laughing hysterically. I love that some books on parenting aren't so serious and try to see the humor of your toddler or baby acting out, making a mess, crying non stop, etc. And most if not all believe that alcohol helps when stressed, which I whole heartedly agree.

Here are some that made me laugh and will help when the house is a wreck, the baby is crying non stop, and the toddler is running crazy. All can be found on Amazon.com.

The Three Martini Playdate

It Gets Easier

Naptime is the New Happy Hour

Sippy Cups are Not for Chardonnay
You will find some of these on my nightstand in the near future. Enjoy.

Latest Drugstore Beauty Finds

I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend. I am just counting the days until the new baby is here and resting as much as I can until then.

I wanted to share with you some awesome finds I have come across at the drugstore recently. Ok I lie I actually follow this awesome beauty blog, you can follow here: Make up by Tiffany D . I have learned so much about eyeshadow technique its great and through her is how I cam across these drugstore finds.

Some of her recommendations that I have tried from her I do not like while others I am so glad I purchased, so for me she can be hit or miss. But I headed over to Walgreens and purchased the new Wet and Wild eyeshadow compacts as well as the Revlon ColorStay Shadow sticks for the eyes. You heard me right, Wet and Wild. I haven't bought anything from them since I was maybe in 8th grade. But Tiffany highly recommended them so I thought why not they are like 5 dollars for a palette.

So without further adieu I bring you the selections I made

I have to say the pigment in the Wet and Wild eyeshadow is amazing. I barely touched my make up brush to the color and it transferred over really well. I am fair so sometimes certain shades don't show up on my eyes but these passed the visible test. The palettes come in three or six colors.

As for the Revlon shade sticks, I found these glide on very smoothly over your eye, no tugging at all. For days I need to run errands but loathe putting on my make up I pick up one of these sticks and in under a minute I have an easy casual eye. Great for on the go.

You can find two fabulous tutorials below. She mixes both brands for the extra pop.

High Five for Friday

Took me a while to get this out as I was practicing with Photoshop. I have a lot more to learn but I am learning how to create collages etc...pretty awesome. I was too impatient to complete one today though.  But I have it on my list of goals to be a photoshop wiz, we will just see how long that takes.

TGIF! This was my birthday week and well I didn't do much of anything (yet again). Being almost 37 weeks pregnant, I'd much rather just lay in bed all day but I have to chase a crazy little girl around. Have I mentioned I am ready to be done being pregnant? Although life with a newborn and toddler should be challenging in its own right.

Alright lets do this!

1. Claire decided to redecorate. I think she is bored because her "fun parent" aka Nik, is at work and I am having trouble entertaining her as I can't really go anywhere. She emptied out all her drawers and when I was cleaning this up she moved on to the media room to destroy her toy box. ahhh

2. Birthday flowers from my parents. super cool.

3. Freebirds like I mentioned opened up here. Claire dipping her kids meal into their signature bbq sauce.

4. Playing around with some Stella and Dot bracelets

5. Claire saw me painting my nails and so tried to do the same but with a pen. Needless she needs a bath.

Happy Friday everyone!

Kids Deal Roundup and I'm Old

Today is my gulp 35th bday. I cannot believe it. I feel like I just turned 30 the other day, time is surely flying by. I suppose I can tell I am 35 because I am searching for deals on children's clothing. Not something I would be doing in my 20s. In my 20's I was looking at the clock for when happy hour started.

Bday in my 20s:

Lots o cocktails and late nights
 Birthday now a days:
Yay baby Claire!

To celebrate I have done a little beauty shopping, you know replenishing my make up and hair products. Another highlight is that Freebird's World Burrito just opened up down the street. Normally I do not care about fast food places, but this restaurant was established in Santa Barbara, where I went to UCSB and frequented many a late night after drinking long island iced teas and cheap beer. (barf). They didn't start franchising until recently and I am more than excited that they are here! Not only are they good on a late night, but they are good just in general. So hoorah.

Here with my partners at BeFrugal.com are some great deals on children's clothing. I need to hop to it for little baby Thomas, so far he has a coming home from the hospital outfit and two other onsies. Enjoy!

Quinoa to the Rescue

I hope you all had a great weekend! I sure did, I spent most of my time resting, but it was still great. I haven't been sleeping at all at night and part of that has to do with late pregnancy heartburn. It's terrible. I have started to cut back my dinners and meals big time as a result. I am still pretty hungry so I decided to give Quinoa a go in the form of a salad. I figured it would be filling yet light and would help with my sleep issues. Now don't get me wrong my diet isn't exactly healthy lately, but if I can throw in some fruit and vegetables to my carb loading I feel somewhat healthy. :)

This salad recipe is so light and easy you can make it ahead of time and use it for lunches or dinners all week. So here we go:

1. Get yourself a box of Quinoa.

Cook following the directions. I then let cool in the fridge

Add english cucumber, feta, tomato, onion

Oh la la another view

For the dressing I just combine olive oil, white and red wine vinegar (I don't measure I just make to taste)

Mix it all together with the dressing

And ta da, easy salad is done and ready to eat!

I hope you enjoy! I know I did.

High Five for Friday!

Love me some Fridays. This week was pretty good. I am becoming incredibly tired easily so have been trying to rest as much as I can. Going to the grocery store has me laying down for a couple hours afterwards. I am big, uncomfortable and ready to be done being pregnant. The last month is always the worst, but at least I am in the home stretch! Hope you all have a great weekend.

1. I have replaced my love of wine with Vanilla Italian Sodas. Excellent and addicting
2. Charlie the pug woke up to find 2 new friends by his side. He is looking old.
3. My husband dropped our iPad on the ground and shattered the screen. Add new iPad to my list. gah.
4. I am way too big and it's still hot outside to go out and play so we relax with the Disney channel and play ball inside.
5. I am in the middle of my 35th week. My wedding rings don't fit, my maternity clothes are getting tighter, and doing everyday tasks are exhausting. Let the countdown begin, seriously.
