2012 Bloggers Ball

ballgown

ballgown by erinjford featuring leather pumps

I love bright colors and sparkly accessories. I added the necklace but this dress is so embellished it can easily be worn without it. This would be a dream outfit to wear to a huge New Years Eve black tie ball. Tonight however I will be in sweats :)

1. What was the best part of 2012.

This little dude below. Arrived on October 9th 2012. He is one super awesome baby. Thomas James Redmond

2. What was your favorite Song / Book / Movie of 2012

Many will say I am not a huge music or book person, as I have a great case of ADD and can't focus. I discovered Mumford and Sons (which I am surely behind when compared to my musically inclined friends) but I love their song "I will wait", makes me want to buy the album, I really like their sound. I also like a good pop song for working out, I admit I like Pitbull, he looks like he could be sleazy in person but his music is great for exercise.

My favorite movie of 2012, would be the only movie I saw in the theater. Les Miserables. It was amazing and I was shocked at how well these actors could sing.

3. My Biggest Accomplishment of 2012

Like many bloggers I would say my blog. I had talked about having one for years and finally just went for it. Tom has slowed me down a bit in terms of growing my audience and really diving into learning all I can, but I will get back on track. I am happy with how it has turned out, love writing my thoughts down and sharing items I love or am wanting. I also love all the new bloggers I have met and have become friends with, it is such a fabulous supportive group!
4. What are you looking forward to most in 2013

Well as most know I had back surgery after an infection from my epidural in October so I have had a rough couple of months. I also haven't left town in months and haven't had much "leisurely fun" Therefore if my parents keep their word to babysit (ahem)  I am excited to go to the Pebble Beach Food and Wine Festival! www.pebblebeachfoodandwine.comI have always wanted to go and my parents live in Carmel, so its super easy to head over for the afternoon and try great wines and food.

5. What are your New Years Resolutions

After having another baby and back surgery I realize how much we rely on our backs and core. I started doing my Dailey Method videos and have gone to a couple spin classes but my ultimate goal is to lose 30lbs of excess baby weight from two pregnancies and to really focus on weight training. Whether working out at home, or the gym I want to get away from heavily relying on spinning and work more on building muscle. I will still go to spin class, just not as often. Obviously hand in had is eating right and while I am going to continue on Weight Watchers, my goal is to really cut out all the crackers, chips, cookies, and processed foods and eat more protein and salads, while indulging in chocolate and wine here and there.
My other major goal is to really learn more about blogging, sponsorships, Photoshop as well as networking with other bloggers. I want to learn all I can to run a successful blog and grow my audience, an audience who is engaged and really enjoys what I have to say. This has been such a fun experience in the few months I have been blogging. I can't wait to see what will unfold this year.

I wish you all a happy, healthy, and successful 2013!!!

Forgive Claire she was in a bad mood :)

New Years Eve Outfits....For the Post Pregnant

Seriously I know I have said it before but where is this year going? Ok so maybe there are only a couple more days left in the year, so maybe more like where did December go. Back in the day I used to LOVE getting a dress together for New Years Eve and buying a ticket to an event so that I didn't have to bother with lines or an over crowded bar. These days I don't go out at all (in terms of party harty out). I still like to get festive and dress somewhat nice for New Years. I don't know its somewhat of a tradition with myself.

This year we are relaxing, having some champagne, and watching movies. I also don't want to be in a dress for a while considering I had a baby only 11 weeks ago. So I thought I would whip together two outfits that could work postpartum. I find its all about the loose fitting blouse and keeping things relatively simple then blowing it up with some fancy heels and jewelry. Maybe next year I will wear a dress again. :)

Stay tuned this weekend if I am able to get to the blog (if Tom Bomb, as I call him, will allow me) I have a fabulous casserole dish perfect for a stay in evening this holiday.

Tarte Sample Sale

While your holiday shopping for others may be done, now is the time to stock up on after Christmas sales. Yes in the New Year my goal is to not be so tempted by all these promotions, but when you see a good deal you see a good deal. I took advantage of one at Tory Burch. They currently are adding an additional 25% off of sale items. I got myself a great tote bag for nearly half off its original price!

This season one of my favorite gift palettes were created by Tarte Cosmetics. I got an email today from Pop Sugar stating they are having a sample sale! Which means a ton of these holiday palettes are on sale. I love it. If you are looking to grow your make up collection or do not have many eyeshadows but want to stock up I think this sale is pretty great for both reasons. Here are some examples of what they are offering, pretty exciting! You can find this sale here: Tarte Sample Sale

Merry Belated Christmas

Merry belated Christmas! The last two days have been quite busy over here. Busy as in eating and drinking duh. We were at my parents house and along with a Champagne bar, we had plenty of wine and egg nog. Egg Nog is like a desert in a glass, its so decadent. Needless to say we over indulged and continuing to until after the New Year, like most others. Cheers to you all!

I also wanted to say hi to all my newest followers! Thanks for following along and I hope you enjoy the blog!

PopSugar Must Have Box Review

So I added a new monthly box subscription to my routine and admit I have a monthly box addiction. This month I wanted to highlight the PopSugar Must Have December Box. For about $39 a month they will send you a box with a feature in all parts of your life: beauty, food, home, fashion, etc. It is a really cute idea. While I love all beauty products I do like receiving different items for my home etc...Like all monthly subscriptions I think this is a great deal considering what you get. Here are the highlights below:

I received two Bistro Mugs, A Tea Sampler, a Fabulous body soap, a cute emergency kit for your purse, a wipe for your iphone, a rent the runway discount, and some peppermint Chocolate sticks.

Overall a great box. The mugs are great for me because they are not hot to the touch on the outside so I am not worried about Claire touching it. The wipes case did a good job of cleaning my phone, and the soap was fantastic and non-drying. I am excited to see what they have in store for next month.

Holiday Goodies..See's Candies

Ok I know I am on Weight Watchers, but that doesn't mean I can't have a couple decadent chocolates here and there. The holidays always remind me of nibbling on way too many chocolates at work to the point I am sick. Lucky for me I am not tempted staying at home with the little ones, however I still crave the chocolates. See's Candies are a perfect treat in their perfect little chocolate nugget. I also haven't had them in a long time since before I lived in Chicago. I love their assorted boxes however if I am craving chocolate but want something low calorie I always go for their chocolate suckers. Seriously they are amazing.

I am not done with my holiday shopping (shocker) but these are perfect add on gifts for anyone on your list. There is also some time to order your gifts by Christmas. If you order by December 20th at 9am you will get automatically upgraded to 2 day shipping for free. Hoorah! I am going to get a few things and let you know how they are! Here is a link for the deal:

Free Shipping Upgrade! Pay standard shipping until 12.20 and we'll upgrade your order to 2 day shipping for free! Order must be placed by 9 AM PST on 12.20.

Here are a few that I am loving.

Holiday Lips

I love bright lip colors almost as much as I love a smokey eye. I don't tend to wear both looks at once, but the holidays are a great time to bring out a dark lip. I own a hot pink lipstick and to this day it is still one of my favorite colors and turns up great in photographs. Tis the season to pack on the color!!! Here are some colors I am loving right now:

Gap and Old Navy Toddler Finds

Happy Friday! Can you believe Christmas is so soon?! I swear its still summer in my head. This weekend we are tormenting Claire with some Santa activities, should be fun for everyone.

Claire is growing like a weed. The second I buy her some clothes she grows out of them. So I don't really want to invest a lot of money in her clothing (sorry Claire). However since there are so many deals right now for the holidays I took it upon myself to get some very cute items for her wardrobe. I am hoping these at least last her through the rest of the winter season. But you never know! Almost all these items are on sale and on top of that there are promo codes on both Gap and Old Navy to save further. An incredible deal. Here is what I am loving for Claire right now.

Spin Class and New URL!

Ok so don't laugh. In my first week of Weight Watchers I gained 5lbs. Whoops. I have NO idea how that happened. The only thing I can think of is that I started exercising again for the first time in months. I have been doing my Dailey Method and Physique 57 videos and was brave enough to tackle a spin class. I was sooo proud that I got the guts to go. I went to a teacher I had never gone to before and she was really hard. I took it easy as she was doing too many jumps for my back. While I feel great I am very careful until I am stronger because I had back surgery. So don't worry I am not going nuts. I just want to move again :)
Here are the results from class, yes my heart rate was high but I also hadn't done cardio in a long time.

Reminds me I need to invest in a new heart rate monitor because the one I have is on its last legs.

So enough about that yesterday I tried to get some shots of the kids together, is it me or is it incredibly tough to get your toddler to look at you for a photograph. I got Tom one of those monthly stickers to use on him and Claire kept trying to take it off and wear it herself.  Here is the best one I got:

On another note I finally got my own url! Hoorah! Well I have actually had it for a while but never brought the two accounts together. You can now just go straight to www.casualstayathome.com. Pretty awesome. Tomorrow I am excited to share some finds I came across on Gap and Old Navy. I swear this is the time of year I shop the most because of all the deals. Until then....

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

I would like to lose 20lbs of my pregnancy weight. I have spent the last two years longing for my pre pregnancy clothes. ha ha. I finished my first week of Weight Watchers and I did ok. I have yet to weigh in but having tracked everything I am starting to feel good in my clothes, well my bigger sized clothes, I have a few months of this before I will be back to normal, but I am ok with it, as obviously it took me nine months to gain it all.

Last night Tom slept 7 hours straight. I have energy today it's a miracle! I am going to take this energy and try a spin class tonight. Fingers crossed, it's going to kick my butt but I am excited to get back to spin. I am going to weigh in tomorrow and really hope I have lost a pound or so.

I ventured out with both kids to the park for the first time alone. It went pretty good! I am going to push my luck and head out to Target this afternoon with these two, but first Tom goes to get his 2 month shots. He is already 2 months old, this is flying by. Hopefully I will leave with that Tracy Reese Blouse.

OMG we left the house, wow nature, fresh air wow. (what I imagine Claire saying when we went to the park)

Dear Santa, let me lose 20lbs

This is totally random but I was thinking of the last time I went to Vegas and here it is from 2005, been a while. (with random dude in background ha ah)

Target Weekend Shopping

I had a little cold this past week which was exhausting considering it was my first official week staying at home without help with my two tiny tots. Needless to say I was ready for some down time. I used my me time this past Saturday to head on over to Target to see what the all the commotion was with the Nieman Marcus line. Once I walked into the store all the products were right up front which I liked considering you normally have to run all over Target to find different categories of any particular line.

I had many things on my list to get so I didn't stay long browsing but I wanted to take a look and think about what would make great gifts. I am really eying that Tracy Reese blouse but I honestly don't know where I would wear it. But in person it is just stunning. The gold glasses are really thick and cool looking, perfect for anyone who loves a good cocktail. That is definitely going to someone as a gift. I have gone ahead and highlighted my picks from the Nieman Marcus for Target line below:
