Carmel Wine Tasting

Hi Mr Bagpiper out there

ooph not the best pic but you can see how cold it was

A couple weeks ago I mentioned my friends from Chicago and I (my husband and kids) met up in Carmel for a mellow weekend of wine tasting and hanging out. Unfortunately the sun did not come out all weekend but we still had a great time. The first night we went to Pebble Beach to have some drinks by the fire pits and listen to the Bagpipe player at the Inn at Spanish Bay  which I had actually never been too but it was gorgeous and I can't wait to go again on a nice sunny day. We didn't last too long after sunset because it was damn cold.

Tom was a trooper. His Chicago Hat I found on Etsy but here is her FB: Baby Hat, Tom Sweater: Old Navy, Tom Pants: Carters
The next day we decided to take a stroll to some of the wineries that are newly popping up all over town. Um can you say dream come true? I think there are about 10 wine tasting rooms in Carmel-by-the-Sea and all have fabulous wines from local vineyards (obviously). We only managed to get to 3 tasting rooms because Claire and Tom needed to unwind at home after hanging around some boring adults who like to stand and drink.

The first wine tasting room we went to was Figge Cellars in this really nice art gallery. The owner was so incredibly cool and welcoming. He taught us a ton about his wine and then physically walked us to another tasting room he recommended which was around the block. The wine was fantastic by the way. I actually loved the Chardonnay because it was quite dry and not so buttery which is why I hate Chardonnays.

A couple others we went to were Scheid Vineyards which had a gorgeous tasting room and fabulous wines at varying prices. Finally Blair Estate Artisan Wine was excellent and SO affordable. You could tell he put a ton of love into his wines. Such a friendly man and a cool tasting room. He doesn't have a Facebook page yet but I will be a fan once it is up!
