Cross Trainers for Weight Training and my Progress

So Tom is relaxifying in his bumbo right now allowing me some time to write. So to give everyone an update on my new years fitness and health goals I have been staying strong. I have lost 2 inches off my waist, 1 inch off my legs and 1 inch off my hips. I am not weighing myself because I made the decision to drop my cardio addiction and move back to weight training which I used to do back in the day when I looked my best. And weight training causes me to gain at first and I don't want to get discouraged.

I don't know what it is, maybe the music in a spin class but I feed off the energy of a class and love it. It does not however move me towards my weight loss goals which is the main reason I would do spin 4 days a week. Sort of a waste. Now that I am doing interval training on the treadmill or elliptical (one minute really fast or at a high resistance and one minute slow for 30 minutes total) and 25 minutes heavy weight training I am starting to get smaller. hooray! Granted I am ok if it takes me 6 months, I am not in a rush as long as I am moving towards a goal of being fit, lean, and healthy like I used to be I am happy. I never tend to lose weight quickly either because I am hypo thyroid.

In any regard, my workouts are awesome but my knees have been killing me. As in I hurt a ligament or tendon, hobbling as I walk sort of thing. It started when I was sprinting on the tredmill then moved into when I did lunges with heavy weights. I took 4 days off and rested and now my knee is feeling much better, but is still not 100%. What I realized is that I cannot be using my running shoes for weight training because I have been rolling my knees in. ah ha!

Solution is new cross trainers to stabilize my foot, duh. I have not done Cross Fit but want to one day when I am injury free, but I have always been interested in cross fit shoes. Seem good enough for stability as well as sprinting even though I am not a cross fitter. So I bought the grey Reebok Cross Fit training shoes below and cannot wait to get them and be free of knee problems. (fingers crossed)

I will tell you how they feel and work, but below are some of the other cross trainers I was considering. Anyone out there do Cross Fit and love it? Do you have the shoes? Are the shoes glorious? I am curious what others think.

Oh and I threw those Nike flip flops in there because I tried them on and oh my lord are they comfortable, they are like temperpedic beds for your feet. They aren't the cutest but I will be getting some for errands for this summer!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

  1. I always run to the Nike store whenever I need new cross trainers but you should check Under Armour too! I'm considering getting my next one there :)

  3. Great post. I also have knee problems and am looking for some new cross-training gym shoes and nothing specifically for running, so this is very helpful. Thanks!
