Weekend Shenanigans

I hope you all had a great Memorial Weekend. I myself had a great one. We drove to San Diego Thursday and had an adventure packed long weekend.

Claire, Tom, their cousin Olivia, aunt Aerial, Nik and I went to the San Diego Zoo Safari. It was really awesome, I almost liked it more than the San Diego Zoo. Claire saw some lions up close and personal and walked around for about 2hours before she wanted to take a nap.

Nik and I found an amazing small brewery and had some good beers at Stumblefoot.

I had my very first "night of fun" away from the kids for my sisters wedding shower downtown. I had a hotel room with one of my very good friends and we had a blast. We started the night with a drink a top the Hyatt which had amazing views, then proceeded to drink and eat the night away at a local wine bar for my sisters festivities. I would have to say the highlight for me was coming back to the room and sprawling out on the bed and sleeping through the night.

Above are some of our highlights, it went by too fast and Tom was so wiped out he slept for 13hrs straight. That was amazing.

What did you all do for the holiday weekend? It is almost June!

Birchbox Male Review

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! My husband and I tried a new sushi restaurant in town and had the most amazing coconut sake. Now you would think it was sweet but it really wasn't (which I liked), sometimes sake on a nice afternoon is perfect. The weather was so nice we sort of just hung out and relaxed. We are gearing up for a long drive to San Diego this Thursday to see Claire's cousin Olivia and aunt and uncle, and I have my sister's wedding shower. (both of our sisters live in San Diego). It will be a busy but exciting long weekend. I am ready for a mini vacation!

If you ever see this in a sushi restaurant, I highly recommend

I have been meaning to post this for a while but my husband, Nik is a member of the Birchbox Men's monthly box. It is $20 for the men but he is always pleased with the items he gets. He is not in any way high maintenance. He just likes that the decision on face and body products are chosen for him. Here is a little more information on it: Birchbox Men

It's funny because I always try to see if there is anything of his I can steal. I personally used almost all of his toothpaste, it was great!

The items he received were some toothpaste, bodywash, shoelaces, facial moisturizer, and some boxers.

Here is his review, straight and to the point, enjoy!

Erin asked me to write a review on a monthly subscription I have been taking advantage for the past several months.  Birchbox Man is a great way to get access to small batch and new products for men. There is typically one larger item and a few testers for your hair or body. This month they didn't disappoint.

You can never have too much underwear. That's really all that needs to be said.  The material is great and seems like they'll last a long time.

I work in finance and dress pretty conservatively. Dark suit, light shirt, and tie everyday. I try to spice things up with socks or a bow tie from time to time. However I never really thought about shoe laces! What a great idea to add some color. I'll swap the standard black for these as soon as I find a tie to match.

Along the same lines you can never have too much toothpaste. It's always something you'll use. This selection is fresh and minty. Everything you want your toothpaste to be. This will go in my travel bag and be utilized next time we are out of town.

This body wash is great as well. Most of the stuff Erin buys is either too lotiony or too fruity. But not this. It has a little spice which has helped wake me up in the mornings. Nothing like a little pepper to the sinuses to start the day.

This months moisturizer is also quite nice. My skin is pretty sensitive so I usually need something light that won't leave me greasy. This stuff is great. A little dab goes a long way and feels really great on your skin.

Zara and Jcrew Comfortable Summer Style for the Postpartum

Happy Tuesday. It is already hot here in Fresno. I cannot believe it is yet another summer. This time last year I was very pregnant with Tom and the summer before that I was in transition from being pregnant with Claire. Needless to say I have had a need for new summer clothing. I cleaned out my closet and got rid of all the old tee shirts and dresses that I haven't worn in a long time. Some do fit but now seem dated and well a lot of my old clothes had dust on them. gross.

Weekend Shenanigans

Yay for the weekend! They go by so fast though. This weekend is going to be SUPER exciting. I am going to get my sisters bridesmaids dress altered. Crazy times over here! woo! I think I will throw a few workouts in and maybe sip some wine outside. Standard weekend.

We got Claire a travel bed for when we go to San Diego, Carmel, and Walnut Creek this summer and she is taking a test run in it now. It is a success! She is sleeping in it! For those of you who want a suggestion for a toddler travel bed.

It is the Leachco Bumpzzz and I purchased it on Amazon.com . It is very soft, big and easy to put back into the bag it came with. I threw down one of Claire's pillows, blankets, and her animals and she is sound asleep. Seriously awesome!

Recent Etsy Finds..Beauty

Happy Thursday, seriously this week is flying by. I have been going strong with my spin class and feel really great! There is something about an hour to yourself to workout with awesome music and no kids that makes class seem more appealing. :) (they have daycare at the gym).

In any regard I had some free time today and was looking through Etsy. I haven't looked through this site in such a long time I missed it! This time I was looking for beauty products. I have yet to order or search for handmade beauty items and was curious what was out there. I really found some great items I would be interested in and would love to share what I found! Hoorah!

Children's Clothing Can be Expensive

Hello everyone, I hope you are all having a fantastic week! I am happy because our internet is finally back up and running. (was down for 3 days!) Now that it is back I am catching up on everything and making some much needed online orders (anyone say summer tee shirts?!).

Speaking of clothing I was cleaning out Claire's closet this week and was sad to see some of her nicer items go. It is incredible how fast kids grow out of stuff. That is why I am never such a huge fan of spending a ton of money on clothing for kids.

Weekend Shenanigans Baby Weight Progress

Happy Friday! I feel normal again and ready to take on the weekend! Yesterday was my husband and I's 4th wedding anniversary and tonight we are going out to dinner sans kids to celebrate. I am crossing my fingers we can take a weekend trip next year without the kids for the big 5 years.

My Take on Mother's Day Gift Guide

I am finally resurfacing after a doozy of a cold. It started last week with my daughter getting an ear infection then a bad cough and cold, then over the weekend I picked up that gem and was laid out Sunday-Tuesday, I even had to have Nik come home and take over Monday because I felt just terrible and had a slight fever. ugg. I am still recovering but feel somewhat human again. Tom has had somewhat of a cold although I don't think he will get the full blown effect, fingers crossed!

I realized that Mother's Day is around the corner. Holy Crap. Actually not holy crap I don't really care about Mother's Day other then a nice brunch but I was thinking of some good gifts to give a fellow mother. Here are my picks that are fabulous to give any mother, or myself wink wink.

1. Monrow Teeshirt Dress 2. Gap Sandals  3. Wide Leg Pants  4.  LipStick Holder  5. Metallic Headband  6.  Candles  7.  Jeweled Headband  8. Sprouted Kitchen Cookbook  9.  C Wonder Chevron Glass

I picked the above with relaxation in mind. It is so hard to take care of kids when you are sick I do not take relaxing for granted. The headbands are my absolute favorite. I could live in only Anthropologie headbands. For instance today I went out in public and didn't want to do my hair so I put one of these on and instant style! The dress and the pants look so comfy. And how freaking cool is that lipstick holder?! I chuck mine in a drawer and am constantly loosing them, would be nice to have them on display.

For those who love jewelry I highly recommend the Stella and Dot make your own charm necklaces. They are so great and I have one with my kids birthstones I wear a ton. It's more on the sentimental side if you are into that for Mother's Day. You can purchase and build your own or for a gift here: Stella and Dot
